Warehouse air conditioning made simple with Breezair evaporative cooling

Decathlon is the biggest warehouse air conditioning installation based on evaporative cooling in Europe

Decathlon is part of the French Oxylane Group and is one of the largest chains of sporting goods throughout Europe. The company has more than 1,000 stores in 31 different countries worldwide and employs more than 60,000 staff from 80 different nationalities.

Decathlon warehouse is based in Seville (Andalusia – Southern Spain) and from here they send goods to all Decathlon stores in Spain. The stores only keep a small stock of products, whereas the biggest part of it is kept in Seville.

The staff was experiencing issues in the warehouse itself, regarding the high heat load, which in the region can reach up to 38 – 40°C.

Cooling down the whole building with traditional air conditioning systems would have been extremely expensive for the company. For this reason, they decided to install Evaporative Air Coolers, one of the most warehouse air conditioning solutions.

Australair Ecoclimatizaciòn installed 136 TBA550G units on the warehouse’s roof, all of them controlled with an IWC10. Decathlon is now the single largest installation of Breezair Evaporative Coolers in Europe (as warehouse air conditioning solutions).

The project was completed in a record time at the beginning of August 2011.

The temperature dropped to reach a more comfortable level of 26 – 27°C, thus improving working conditions, morale and productivity.

Mr Juan Rubio Millan, Australair’s CEO, declared that the results were impressive, the installation massive and the improvement of working conditions definitely remarkable.

Seeley International, Australian Breezair manufacturer, recognized to Australair a special price during the 4th International Distributor Conference 2016 for their efforts and commitment for this specific installation.

Why Breezair warehouse air conditioning solution?

Breezair is the perfect solution to cool warehouses. Traditional air conditioning is not an option, due to the amount of units required and the costs related both for installation and maintenance.

Moreover, warehouses need to often open doors to load containers and trucks. This makes traditional air conditioning not effective, whereas it is necessary for evaporative cooling. In fact, they need to have natural openings or extract fans to be installed, to avoid overpressure.
